From the catalogs of babes

{January 8, 2009}   a new start

Our library serves a school on the quarter system. Today is the first day of the new quarter, and the first open library day of 2009. I sometimes dread the inevitable return of students that the new quarter brings, but today I’m feeling pretty positive. I think 2009 will be a good year for our library, and I have big plans for 2009, including more and better training for our paraprofessional cataloging staff, implementing new and innovative access methods targeted towards our user base, and hopefully migrating to a new ILS with a much more visual interface. I want to go to a lot of conferences, including both ALA Midwinter and Annual and Computers in Libraries, so I can learn about upcoming technologies and developments and also meet new people who feel as passionately about user-centric cataloging as I do.

Oh, and I want to finally get my library-themed tattoo.  Hey, we are a fashion library, after all.
